Trisha Yearwood embraced “a surreal experience,” she said as she posted a few photos on Instagram on Wednesday afternoon (May 7). The iconic country singer-songwriter received her honorary doctorate degree at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. She wrote in her caption:

“When I think about all of the things that allowed me to have that first song go to number one, to get a record deal, to tour the world and do all the things that I’ve been able to do in the 34 years of my career, I can’t thank Belmont enough for the role they’ve played. Receiving my honorary doctorate last weekend alongside my incredible friend Hillary Lindsey, was such a surreal experience and I just want to say thank you, and I’m feeling so much love right now. xoxo”

Singer-songwriter Erin Enderlin celebrated “Dr. Yearwood,” among other comments congratulating the Georgia-born country star. Enderlin and fellow singer-songwriter Sunny Sweeney are joining Yearwood on her headlining tour, which recently kicked off in Austin, Texas. Yearwood previously said Enderlin and Sweeney “are two of my co-writing pals on this new album.”

Yearwood recently confirmed her new album, The Mirror, will arrive this summer. She’s since released “Bringing The Angels” and “The Wall Or The Way Over” from the 15-track record, which is Yearwood’s “first fully co-written and co-produced album… This is a new chapter for me and one I cannot wait to share with you… I am so proud of this record and hope you love it as much as I loved creating it.”

The Mirror will release on July 18.
