Blake Shelton is switching gears, now that heās wrapping up his final season on The Voice and shifting his attention to his family.Ā
The country superstar spoke with PEOPLE for the magazineās latest cover story, reflecting on his decision to end his run as a coach on the smash-hit singing competition series, his current projects ā including his new game show with Carson Daly, Barmageddon, and his clothing line ā and the āembarrassingā thing he and Gwen Stefani spend money on.
Shelton, who married Stefani in July 2021, said that the couple bonds over music and gardening (despite admitting that heās often frugal, āitās embarrassing how much we spend on seedsā), and itās a welcome change of pace from previous stages of their careers. He told PEOPLE: āGwen and I have done so much traveling and touring and work the first half of our lives that now we're like, 'Hey, I'm good to put my sweatpants on at 6 p.m. and watchĀ OzarkĀ eight times.ā That's our life now, and we love it.ā
Though Shelton said it was a tough decision to leave The Voice, he explained that his other projects allow for more time in Oklahoma and with his family, including his three stepsons from Stefaniās previous marriage: Kingston, 16, Zuma, 14 and Apollo, 8.
āEven though I'm a stepparent, I take that job very seriously,ā Shelton told PEOPLE. He added, āIāve made plenty of money, but you can't buy time back. I don't want any regrets. ā¦It's time to push some of this [work] stuff out and let more family and personal life in.ā
