Lainey Wilson crossed an item off her bucket list on Thursday night (May 26), appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform her latest single, “Heart Like A Truck.”

Host Jimmy Fallon introduced “the reigning ACM New Female Artist of the Year” as Wilson took the stage. She was asked about “Heart Like A Truck” at the 57th Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards in Las Vegas, months before releasing the song. Wilson said of the story behind it:

“When we sat down to write the song, we really just kinda started talkin’ about all the things that we have gone through, me and my cowriters. And, we were just talking about how, at the end of the day, it’s about putting on your big girl panties, it’s about pullin’ up your bootstraps, it’s about movin’ forward… The last few years, I think we have all done that. And so, I just kind of felt like this was the song. This is a song that is just one of those powerful anthem songs that people need to hear. I think we all got a heart like a truck.”

Wilson premiered a new music video for the song when she released it on May 20. It tells the story of “a newbie, underdog horse trainer that struggles to gain the acceptance of her peers,” according to a press release. Though the country artist was putting her acting skills to the test, she also “felt right at home,” having learned “to ride horses before I learned to walk.”

“‘Heart Like A Truck’ is all about self-discovery, growth and embracing scars as badges of honor,” Wilson previously explained of the song. “After all, a truck that has hit a few bumps and earned some scratches has proved itself and its tenacity—the shiny one on the lot can’t say that.”

Wilson quickly reflected on her latest performance on Instagram, saying that it “was a bucket list evening.” Watch Wilson’s performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon here:
