Trace Adkins is a busy guy, releasing new music on a double album, warming up the stage for Blake Shelton on tour, and acting on the silver screen in a new family drama, 'Monarch.'
In a recent interview with Cody Alan, Trace dropped in to talk about his newest song, "Got It Down," only to reveal that social media is something that he says he will never have "down pat." In fact, he isn't even interested in trying.
"I don't do it at all. I have people that do it," says Trace.
"You know, I use social media as a tool just to let my fans know this is what I am doing. This is where I am going to be. That's what I use it for. It's just a tool to let people know. I don't engage anymore," says the country star. "It's gross, man! I don't want to participate anymore. I got out of it when I just started realizing just how nasty it was."
Although Trace's decision to hand over his social media to the pros was an easy call to make, his conclusion wasn't met without some concern.
"At the time, my publicist said, "Oh my God! You can't do that! You can't just [quit] because of one bad apple," says Trace as he recalls the moment.
"I said, "That's not how I look at it. I look at it like, we are all at a pool party, and we are all in the pool having a good time, and then somebody sh*ts in the pool," Trace jokes.
"It wasn't me, and it wasn't you, but somebody sh*t in the pool, and we all have to get out," says Trace candidly.
"I am not swimming in that anymore. You go ahead, and you swim in it if you want to. I am getting out, and that's what I did," laughs the country star.
