Dolly Parton Reveals When Your Christmas Tree Should Be Taken Down

If you are wondering when to take down your Christmas tree? Take a tip from the wise and wonderful Dolly Parton.

On the heels of her 'A Holly Dolly Christmas' album, the "I Will Always Love You" singer sat down with Cody Alan to reveal her favorite Christmas traditions, including how long she leaves up her holiday decorations.

"Well, we do all of the traditional stuff, just like everyone else," says Dolly. "The turkey. The dressing. Sometimes we just make big fat chickens instead of turkeys, but we do all of the hams, and the stuffing, and pumpkin and sweet potato pies."

Dolly went on to reveal her favorite, and also the most obscure meal item on her family's holiday menu.

"I make a big pot of chicken and dumplings every year," laughs Dolly. "My family loves that. Momma used to make dumplings at Christmas, so I still do that in addition to all of the other stuff."

Dolly loves to make her home feel cozy, warm, and bright during the holiday season, and she's never in a rush to take her ornaments down.

"I put up my Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving," says Dolly. "So, we decorate, and I celebrate Christmas all the way up to my birthday on the 19th of January. I always make them leave my decorations up to my birthday because I am still celebrating."
