Brother duo Dan and Reid Isbell hosted another pair of brothers on the latest episode of God’s Country that premiered on Tuesday (September 3). Together, the quartet covered a classic hit by legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bruce Springsteen.
Lady A’s Charles Kelley and his brother, Josh Kelley, joined the Isbell brothers on the new podcast episode. God’s Country is “a full blown riot of brother wars, harmonies, and storytelling that had the guys laughing for an hour straight. All of them compare upbringings and their musical journeys that led them to Nashville, which are eerily similar. Charles reveals their first brother band name and Josh relives losing the junior masters, from shooting an 8 on the last hole, when he was 10,” the description reads.
The episode ends with a cover of Springsteen’s “I’m on Fire,” which appeared on his 12-track album, Born in the U.S.A., in the mid-1980s.
Dan and Reid — who have written music for Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Scotty McCreery, Jon Pardi, Lainey Wilson and others — started their weekly podcast this year. Guests appearing on the show so far include HARDY, Dustin Lynch, Colbie Caillat and others.
“One of our favorite things about country music has always been how intertwined it is with the outdoors,” Dan and Reid Isbell said in a statement when God’s Country launched. They hope to “bring the outdoor enthusiast or country music lover an up close and personal look into the minds of some of the best songwriters and artists of the genre — a place where they can be honest about struggles, relationships, their connection to the outdoors, the music business, family, whatever they feel comfortable talking about. We can’t wait to see where this partnership will lead and who this podcast will reach.”
